London Borough of Redbridge and Waltham Forest Learning Disabilities Partnership "247" day opportunities centre provides vulnerable members with activities for personal development and integration with the community.

Matthew Lai, Media Productions documented the development of the first participants in the "Crossing Borders" project; creating both a short film for presentation purposes as well as giving each participant a record of their achievement. This project involved:

Story board and Voice Over writing Filming and Photography Digital Video Editing, Special effects and Title Sequences

Soundtrack creation and Voice Recording DVD artwork design, DVD-Video Production and printing

Excerpt of the voice over narrative Along the principles of the UK government's white paper "Valuing People Now", the 247 Day Opportunities Service continue to develop initiatives to improve the lives of vulnerable adults. Traditionally the focus is on training each individual to independently perform day to day activities ... calling for possession of specific levels of mobility and communication. As 247 has within its service, adults with a wide variety of complex needs ... the Crossing Borders project emphasises the development of the people themselves and not just around the performance of specific activities. Through dance, the project provides participants with new experiences, allowing themselves to explore and realise their own potential opportunities for expression, interaction and improvisation.
